Beth Cutler

Where did you grow up?
I grew up here in CT, in Waterbury.

What is your academic background?
I left CT for “gorges” Ithaca College for undergrad and then Boston University for grad school. ]After working in nonprofits and serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Pacific Island nation of Kiribati, I decided to go back to school for my library science degree. I spent 11 years in public schools, and now here I am happy to have joined the Calarco library team at Hopkins.

What are your hobbies/what things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I’ll take any opportunity I can to travel and have been to over 40 countries. Sticking closer to home, I spend lots of time reading (surprise!), running/working out, and hanging out with my husband and family.

Are you a sports fan? If so, which sport and what teams?
Growing up I went to UConn basketball games all the time with my family. I was lucky enough to be at the 2014 Men’s National Championship when they won the title, and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
It’s absolutely a spinach salad and pizza. Pizza has infinite topping options, so it never
gets old! I recently made a vegetarian BBQ chickpea pizza and it was fantastic!
