IMBL: The Other Side of the Hopkins Basketball

This year, IMBL (Intramural Basketball League) has seen a spike in players, particularly those with a background in the
sport. As a league idolized by the student body, but exclusive only to Senior School participation, it’s no surprise that it
boasts such a large number of participants. Here’s why some players gravitated towards IMBL over formal basketball:
“I decided to play IMBL because I just couldn’t abandon my boys on the Fort Knox Golden Bricks
and I never would have forgiven myself if I’d passed up the opportunity to get another ring” -Eli
Sabin ’18 of the Fort Knox Golden Bricks

“I decided to play IMBL because I could be a beast on the court while still chillin with my day ones.”
-Olivia Capasso ’19 of the Little Lock Nine

“Since basketball isn’t my frst sport, I wasn’t very motivated to play competitively. Afer hearing
from seniors last year IMBL sounded like a great way to play basketball under no pressure. It also is
during H block leaving me with enough time for homework and outside of school activities.” -Kyle
Meury ’19 of the Super Smash Bros

“I chose to play IMBL because I wanted to have time to train for baseball afer school while still get-
ting the fun of basketball every day.” -Jack Dove ’19 of Saturday’s Are For Dubouys

“I decided to play IMBL because, against real basketball players, I was below average, but against
IMBL players, I am slighty above mediocre.” -Spencer Lockhart ’18 of the Little Lock Nine

“I was never as good at basketball as I wanted to be, but I’ve always loved the game so IMBL is the
perfect place to keep playing.” -Mark Xu ’18 of the Xu Keepers
